Come and join forces as heroes around the city unity to destroy Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The Hero 5k is a fun-filled family-friendly charity race benefitting My DMD Hero, a local non-profit organization providing children with life-changing mobility equipment.
Wear your favorite superhero attire and use your super speed to make a difference. This event is kid-friendly and wheelchair friendly so that anyone can be a hero in the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a fatal, muscle-wasting disease affecting 1 in every 3500 boys. Boys with Duchenne lose vital muscle strength at an early age. Between ages, 4-8 boys lose the ability to run, jump, dress themselves, and simply experience childhood independently. Duchenne boys are usually in a wheelchair by age 12 and live into their late teens or early 20s. Currently, there is no cure. DMD is 100% fatal.
This event is in honor of Brock and Graham Andrews, two brothers fighting to live with this condition. All the proceeds will go directly to aid other families fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and provide life-changing mobility equipment that will help DMD boys experience the best life possible.
