EVENT UPDATE

Dear Athletes,

As the situation surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to evolve, we are writing to inform you that the Der Wolfsrudel Lauf (Wolfpack Trail Run), which was scheduled for April 4, 2020 in Delaware State Park, Delaware, Ohio will become a Virtual Trail Run. Please know that the health, safety and well-being of you and our community is our highest priority, and as a special event with a State of Ohio – Ohio Department of Natural Resources permit, we are required to abide by their policies.

We know that this news is disappointing, just as it is disappointing to us. We poured our hearts and souls, as well as countless hours, into this event and transitioning to a virtual event is not an easy decision. We also understand the hours you have dedicated to training for this race, so please know that this decision was made with the safety of the entire community in mind, including Central Ohio’s most vulnerable populations, and ultimately, we have to abide by requirements to reduce community spread. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding during this unprecedented time.

Here are the details for the virtual trail run:

• Your virtual run can be completed anytime, anywhere, even on a treadmill, starting March 23 – April 15. Simply complete the distance you registered and enter your finish time to the results page HERE. Please submit results by April 15. 
• Finishing times and results are on the honor system, so you can track your distance and time however you like. The most accurate way to do this is by a running GPS watch, but there are several smartphone apps available for iPhone and Android devices that you may be interested in.
• We have also created a Der Wolfsrudel group on Strava that you can also join and can see the courses, dates, and how others did during their run.
• For those that complete the virtual run by April 15, we will mail the following:
  • Finisher medal (if you did not participate in March and would like to order the companion medal let us know)
  • Event shirt (shirt below) for those that ordered a shirt. Note: If you did not order a shirt and would like to order a shirt, please let us know. We did order extra shirts for the event. Available while size and quantity last.
  • Awards – Top male and female finisher by distance will receive a commemorative award noting their finish. All results are final at midnight, April 15.
• Registration is still open so if you have a friend or family member wanting to participate, they can still register to participate in the virtual run.
• All participants in the virtual run will receive a special one-time 20% discount into the 2021 event when announced.
