The START/FINISH is located at the northwest section of the Alum Creek Beach. Athletes will run 0.5 mile on the sandy beaches of Alum Creek and have to leap over longitudinal barriers or duck underneath obstructions as they run the length of the beach to the trailhead that will take you to the paved dam levee path. Heading toward the dam, athletes will run down the 10 story Alum Creek stairs to a turnaround point below the dam. Turning around, they will ascend up the 10 stories of stairs back to the paved levee path and head back to the Alum Creek trail and for the challenging 0.5 mile run across the sand to the finish.
